Energy & Battery Management

Compact energy storage and optimum usage is becoming a ‘winning strategy’ in almost every sector of business. Electric vehicles, high bandwidth connected power solutions, predictive and proactive maintenance of power systems, high QoS for power systems using IIoT, Cloud and Analytics are technological revolutions which are driving affairs of the 21st Century. While enabling effective energy usage, all these domains themselves too depend on optimum energy use.

AGV has a platter of niche technological products and solutions for the management of power storage and converter units. All the products are modular in nature and can be configured to any application in their genera.

Battery Monitoring System

Critical installations operating continuously on 24/7 basis, require a power back-up in form of battery banks. Depending on power backup capacity, these battery banks can consist of 30 to 1000 battery units. Battery stacks consist of multiple strings of typically 30-48 batteries each, connected in parallel to meet the back-up requirement. Reliable and timely operations of these energy storage systems are the ‘Key Performance Indicator (KPI)’. Best way of ensuring high performance is to have an automatic monitoring system with ‘predictive maintenance’ capability. AGV’s BMS

  • Provides continuous monitoring of basic health parameters like ‘Voltage of individual units’. link currents, temperature, hydrogen concentration etc.
  • Computes Derived parameters like ‘State of Charge (SoC)’, State of Health (SoH), Internal Resistance etc.
  • Offers communication options through GSM, WiFi, Ethernet, RS485 etc
  • Alerts with timely warnings and prompts timely maintenance.

Battery Equalizer

Efficient and full functionality of large battery banks is achieved only when all the battery units are ‘healthy’ and performing in perfect tandem. In practice, due to aging and chemical imbalance the storage capacity of a few cells or batteries goes down over time. Such a situation pulls down the performance of the complete bank and initiates a rapid degradation of the health of other battery units in the same bank. This can be avoided by installing ‘AGV’s Battery Equalizer’. This unit continuously replenishes SoC of weaker cells/batteries and maintains ‘near equal’ SoC of all the member units of the string.
This optimises charge utilization from the entire battery bank and extends the life of the batteries.

Cell Tester

At some point, it is inevitable to encounter ‘degradation’ or ‘end of life’ of individual battery units. AGV has partnered with KAD Industries to offer a solution in the form of the ‘Battery Rejuvenator’. This system makes it possible to ‘re-capacitate’ the degraded battery units and regain the storage capacity of a degraded battery unit.

AGV has partnered with KAD Industries to offer a solution in the form of the ‘Battery Rejuvenator’. Transformer Parameter Monitoring System

Supply and distribution of electrical power is realized by distribution transformers. The power transformers are also important for industrial process plants, where power needs to be supplied at appropriate voltage and level. However, in practice, these transformers are often left unattended and may lead to ‘catastrophic failure’ or sudden degradation. AGV’s IIoT based Transformer Monitoring System provides ‘round the clock monitoring’ of transformer parameters like voltage, current, oil temperature, contact temperature etc. With ‘record-keeping facility’ on Cloud, cutting edge Data Analytics and timely communication over the internet, it is possible to detect events of transformer-overloading, perform preventive maintenance and avoid transfer failures and degradations.

Fuel Cell Monitoring System

Fuel cells are coming up as a preferred energy-storage option as it does not create pollution at the site of usage. Fuel cell systems are making entry in strategic applications and even in locations of high population density. Fuel cell systems use hydrogen as fuel for the generation of energy. In view of this, it is necessary to have safe and efficient operation of the fuel cells. AGV’s Fuel Cell Monitoring System ensures smooth operation by providing online and real-time monitoring of the fuel cell parameters and enabling control algorithms.

Super-capacitor Equalizer

Super capacitors are upcoming energy storage units with agility of capacitors and charge storage capability of battery units. They are used in the applications where fast charge-discharge operations are required. Charging of these super capacitors requires accurate control over the voltage of individual supercapacitor. AGV’s Supercapacitor Equalizer achieves this with a carefully designed precise electronic circuit and ensures excellent power efficiency of the super-capacitor strings.
